  • Message from Superintendent Melissa Speers:

Thank you for your patience as we navigate these unknown times in education due to COVID-19. I'm sure each of you by now has heard yesterday's announcement by Governor Hutchinson that students will not return to campus to finish the school year. I'm also sure you probably have many questions. I wish I could tell you that I have all of the answers, but that would not be the truth. What I can tell you is that I am confident Jessieville is going to weather this "storm" and come out stronger for having gone through it. The Jessieville teachers and staff are one of the best in the state, and I know that each of them will continue to work together and do what it takes to finish this school year as strong as possible given the circumstances. We are taking one day at a time and focusing on what is essential.

I am meeting with my leadership team tomorrow afternoon to make plans for going forward. This will be one of many meetings we have between now and the end of May, and we will continue to meet over the summer to plan for the beginning of school in August 2020. As we develop plans, I will continue to communicate those with you.

Please continue to support your students with their learning and reach out to the teachers, counselors, and principals if you have questions or need assistance. We are here to help you and your students in their learning.

I know I speak for all of the staff when I say we miss the students and look forward to when things return to normal so we can be back on campus together.

Thank you again for your patience and support through this. Remember to stay home as much as possible and keep washing your hands!

Please see this info pertaining to your building level for updates about student work.

Elementary: The next turn-in date for assigned work is Monday, April 20th. School personnel will be available to accept completed work from 11:00-1:00 outside the cafeteria on the 20th. Students may also send assignments back to school with the bus drivers when they deliver meals that day. If you have questions about assignments, please refer to the updated phone list posted Friday morning of last week and reach out to teachers for clarification.

Middle and High School: The original deadline for week one's assignments has been extended to April 13th. Students who completed paper packets may drop these off outside the cafeteria from 11:00-1:00 on the 13th, or send work back to school on the bus that delivers their meals. Administrators and teachers would like to encourage students with computer/phone access to email pictures of completed work or turn in assignments on Google Classroom (rather than send paper back to school) in order to prevent any unnecessary spreading of germs during this time. This week’s work will be due Monday, April 20.

Notes from Jessieville’s administrative team debriefing session this afternoon:

Today 440 meals were accepted by Jessieville students from our cafeteria. We will continue to serve the students of our district throughout the week.

Elementary teachers contacted all parents today individually to discuss plans for getting food and AMI packets. Library books will also be available on the buses delivering food and packets. Elementary AMI work for car riders not picked up today will be available in the elementary office tomorrow from 7:30 to 3:30.

Middle and High School Students: If you do not have your Google Classroom access code, please contact your teacher. If you have forgotten your password, please contact your building office or email support@jsdlions.net with your name and grade for a password reset.

Please know that throughout this week, custodians are deep cleaning and sanitizing classrooms, fogging buses again to ensure that our facilities are disinfected.

Superintendent Melissa Speers will visit KVRE in the morning at 8:30 to provide updates about food delivery and AMI packets.
