Ascent After-School Tutoring (K-5)
Ascent After-School is dedicated to enriching the educational, social, and cultural opportunities of the students and families served by the district. We have certified teachers working with your children on homework or tutoring for 15-45 minutes Monday-Thursday. Our main focus is to ensure that our students are getting all the tools they need to be successful in class. Once all students in that class are finished with homework they will be involved in a fun STEAM program that involves reading books and doing different activities related to a specific topic. We offer other fun activities for the students to participate in like: Dance, Monkeynastix, free play, GoNoodle, IPad/computer, 3D pens, board games, Legos, and so much more. These activities are offered on different days of the week and some at different times during the year. During the fall, we offer a running program for girls called Girls on the Run. We have recently started to offer Archery for grades 4-5. We serve an after-school snack and drink each day and we offer different transportation opposition (see application). Discover After-School Tutoring (6-12)
Discover After-School Tutoring is available free of charge for all 6-12 students on Monday-Thursdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. The program is staffed with certified teachers from Jessieville Middle School and High School who teach a variety of subjects. Parents can sign students up to come to two hours of tutoring or to one hour of tutoring followed by a one-hour activity time. Students receive an after-school snack and drink, and then begin working on schoolwork or studying, depending on each student’s needs. During the one-hour activity time, students can choose from several different activities, depending on the day of the week and staff availability. Some activities available include archery, art, sports & recreation, board games, Middle School E-Sports, and a mentoring program for young men called Gentlemen Lions. After tutoring, students can be picked up at the school or can ride a bus to one of the following locations: the Boys and Girls Club, the Shell Station in the Village, or up 298 to Rock Springs Church.
