The Jessieville Gifted and Talented program serves students who require gifted services in order to meet their needs. Gifted and talented children and youth are those of high potential or ability whose learning characteristics and educational needs require qualitatively differentiated educational experiences and/or services. Possession of these talents and gifts, or the potential for their development, will be evidenced through an interaction of above average intellectual ability, task commitment and/or motivation, and creative ability.
For grades K-2, gifted students are serviced through the Talents Unlimited Model of whole group enrichment in their regular classroom. Beginning is 3rd grade students can be tested for GT services. In grades 3-5, students are provided 150 minutes a week of GT instruction in the GT classroom. For middle school and high school students, GT services are provided during their academic hall period.
